For two decades, the client had dedicated himself to his career in law enforcement. As his retirement approached, he began to think about what happened after he retired.
With carefully honed investigative skills from his career in law enforcement, the client looked around and realized there was a gap in his city’s marketplace for a private investigation company. He approached his friend — also an FBI agent approaching her retirement — and told her that there was an opportunity to put their investigative skills to use in the private sector.
With a long-standing solid friendship behind them in the FBI, the two decided to move forward into a business partnership.
As soon as he and his friend were officially retired, the two began to pursue their new business as a private investigations and security and consulting firm.
Although the end user is different than it was during their law enforcement careers, they interview witnesses and gather evidence in pursuit of the truth.
Regardless of who hires them, the client and his partner are determined to uncover the truth no matter where it leads.

How a private investigative firm found a trustworthy technology partner


The Company seeks the truth for a variety of clients.
One of their primary types of clients are criminal defense attorneys who want to ensure they have all the true facts in order to make wise decisions for their clients — whether that means taking a plea bargain or going to trial and making their case.
Corporations that need background investigations on potential employees or help with fraud or other internal problems also receive the help they need from the company.
The Company also provides discreet investigations for problems ranging from sexual misconduct allegations to hazing accusations.
Personal injury cases and civil cases are also handled by the company.
In addition to their investigative services, the company provides training to both professionals
and civilian looking to improve a variety of skills across the security sector.
What They Needed
For many modern businesses’, their online presence is equal to — or more important — than their physical location. The client and his partner knew that they needed to create a high-quality website. As the client expressed, “Everybody when they need something, they go to the internet and google it. So, say you’re in need of a private investigator…you’re going to go, and you’re going to see who pops up, and you’re going to look at their website. And if it’s nice and professional, it instills that confidence, and you’re probably going to call that one as opposed to the homemade Weebly version where the widgets don’t work and the contact us page doesn’t get through to the people.”
What They Tried
Knowing the importance of the website, the client and his partner made attempts to design their own. However, neither of the clients had IT skills. Their multiple attempts to create a website failed.
After their own attempts to design a website failed, the client had an idea. Years before, he had met the founder of Swan Software Solutions, Alex Morozov. The two had become friends.
The client reached out and arranged for Swan Software Solutions to design the website he needed.
When asked if he had ever considered reaching out to any other IT companies for his website design, the client stated, “Just with Swan. Trust is a big thing with me… if I have more confidence in the person doing something, I feel like I’m better off. That’s primarily what pointed me in that direction.”


Swan Software Solutions put together a team of three to four people to work with the client and his partner designing the website.
The client and his partner began to work with the carefully assembled Swan team to create the website.
As they were new to the IT world, the Swan team helped the client and his partner through the IT process.

With a technology partner ready to help them create their vision, the client and his partner needed to make many decisions about how they wanted their final product to look. While the myriad of decisions might have become overwhelming, the Swan team and Client team worked together to discover the client’s vision and bring it to life.
First, the Swan Team walked the client and his partner through
the Discovery Process. The client described it. “They ask a lot of questions, and I answered them as best I could. I went onto the internet, and I found some competitor websites all over the country and I went, okay, I like this about this one and I like this about this other one. This gave me an idea to have our own thing that was like this, and just kind of a back and forth is how we ended up where we wanted to be.”

Working with the client, the Swan Team created a dynamic new website for the new business.
The client company has since grown from the client and his partner to a team of over a dozen retired FBI agents.
The client’s relationship with Swan has continued with the launch of a cybersecurity initiative and a move toward the development of an application that will improve the efficiency of their business.
