Meet Ruslan: A Developer Who Believes One Quality is Paramount

Ruslan works as a React.js developer at Swan Software Solutions. He develops and supports web applications. When asked to share his favorite thing about working at Swan, Ruslan stated, “My favorite thing about working for Swan is a good and friendly team and a nice atmosphere. I appreciate the opportunity to work with a professional team and learn from them.”

Ruslan took an interesting path to his career as a developer. He shares the story, “In 2016, I graduated from the State Technological University with a degree in software engineering. But at that time, I did not see myself as a developer. I did not understand many things, and I didn’t know where to go. So, I went into electronics retail and worked there, but programming was still interesting to me.” It’s no surprise then that Ruslan left his job in the electronics store to pursue his career as a developer.

Acquiring the skills he needed to achieve his goal of becoming a developer at Swan Software Solutions is one of Ruslan’s proudest achievements so far. His future goal is to become a senior developer at Swan.

Off the Job

Ruslan loves soccer. Whenever he has an opportunity, he goes to practice soccer. His love of soccer began years ago. “I have been playing football since I was a child. I haven’t been able to do it as much lately, because I have a lot of work. But sometimes my teammates invite me to charity tournaments – I take part with pleasure.”

Ruslan described himself as a very modest person. He grew up in a small village, and although he now lives in a big city, he holds on to lessons he learned growing up. He shared one of those lessons when he was asked to talk about his favorite vacation. “I realized that the best place for a vacation is my home. I really relax there like nowhere else.”

Folk wisdom is something Ruslan believes everyone should live by. Ruslan shared one adage that guides him. “Measure seven times and cut once. I always think first, then do.”

Final Thought

The final question for Ruslan requested that he share what he believes is the most important quality for a good developer and why. Ruslan had a ready reply with a quality that he believes is paramount in any occupation. “Responsibility. I think, this is the most important trait for any profession. Responsible people are easy to work with. You just know that they will not fail.”
